[Not a Chapter] – Important: Migrating the Website

Hello guys, Reigokai here!

So well, remember that about being cut off before? …Yeah, it really did happen.

For the ones who have no idea what I am talking about, here’s the post to bring you up to speed: https://isekailunatic.com/2020/09/19/not-a-chapter-cut-off-for-the-time-being/

The difference this time is that I wasn’t given any reason now. I was simply cut off with no explanations at all. I have now been left dry with my premium features gone but still having paid for them.

This is the last straw.

I don’t want to bring any negativity here, so I will keep it civilized.

I have already begun the slow and tedious migration process. It will most likely be taking me all my time since I am doing it semi-manually, so please forgive me for that.

What I am most worried about is that after migrating, most of my novelupdates links will die. I don’t really have the authority to do anything on NU, so I can only leave it up to the people who have the ability to change things there.

It really pains me to do this, but I have had my gripes with wordpress.com for a while now, and you could say I have been punched two times too many now.

It has been 5 years since I began using this website. How time passes.

There will most likely be people who will be leaving from this, not because they don’t like this changing of websites, but because they simply don’t keep tabs on me so often and I will simply fizzle out. That’s just how it works.

But if possible, the readers here, I would like you guys to follow me. The support, the patrons, the comments, every reader; they were all my driving force for continuing on with this fun passion of mine that is translation.

The reason why I was scared of migrating websites is because of the fear that I might be losing some of that on the way. However, this is just the type of situation where I am simply prolonging the inevitable and making it harder for myself.

I don’t know how many will be noticing this, but for the ones reading here, I really hope you guys continue following me along on the journeys.

Also, I apologize for this way too sudden announcement.

Now then, I will be making a new post about the new website once I am done. Because of this, I will be taking a “break” of maybe 1 week.

Hope to see you guys there!

  1. Been reading your translations since tsuki ga michibiku chapter 50.

Although I‘m definitely more of a lurker and rarely ever comment, I would like to tell you just how much of an important place your translations have in my life.

I usually check the better translation websites only once a month and binge read the releases then, but i make sure to read your translations at the day they come out. Both content and quality are simply that much better than everywhere else, the number of releases is also above average so i have something to look forward to almost everyday.

Please keep up the good work, you are definitely the best translator among the WN translators (and possibly also including the ones who do LNs)

Best regards and i hope we see you again at the new site
    A big Fan

  2. No yeah. You go ahead and have that break. Just do your thing and try not to stress out. If they don’t treat you well, don’t give them business.

Dang. 5 years, huh? On one hand, that’s a long time. On the other…only 5 years?

  6. It’s sad to see things aren’t going well with your webhosting. Although I’m a lurker, I’ve always been looking forward to new chapters.

On the bright side, as someone who runs my own self hosted wordpress site and has done plenty of server migrations to different webhosts in the past, you should be able to transfer over essentially everything (Pages/posts/comments etc) to a self hosted wordpress site rather easily if you wanted to go that route. I’d recommend AWS or Azure for hosting as they are relatively easy to work with and give you full control over your site (+ they both give a ton of free trial credit when you first sign up).

If you need some help, I’m sure a lot of us, myself included, would be willing and able to give it.

  7. As you can see, Reigokai-sama, everybody will support you!
I’m really sorry to hear that WP sick this much, I hoped the problems where solved… and also, about copying everithing: that clearly sounds like a boring and long task. Please, take your time!
I’m a bit sad we will loose all the comments here: even if I’m always late because ot time zones, it became a bit of a habit to comment the chapter, first thing in the morning. I will keep doing with everybody else on the new website!
Please, take care till then, we’ll be waiting for you

  8. Hi. I’m a long time lurker. I rarely if ever post comments, but I still appreciate the releases pretty much every day you post.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting your migration to the new website.

I hope needing to do this tedious extra work followed by slight drops in viewers won’t get you down too much.

    Good luck!

  9. Long time lurker here. Thanks a lot for your hard work!

Honestly this is one of the best novel translations site up there – I’ll definitely follow to wherever you are going to migrate.

BTW, have you thought of setting up a discord server? Most other translation websites do have it, and that way your fan base (if I can call it that) wouldn’t be tied to a single website – also provides very nice tools to alert about new chapters.

  11. I’ve been reading since the start of Tsuki and I have no plans on stopping any time soon even if you change websites. Shame about the old comments though but you gotta do what you gotta do so if WordPress is being a douche, dump them for something that doesn’t. You (and frankly everyone) deserves a better host than WordPress anyways.

  12. This isn’t your fault so you don’t need to be so hard on yourself. Although I’m not sure about others, I can guarantee that I’d follow you to your new website. I only got to make an account fairly recently but I’ve been using your site for a long time

  13. Reigokai. In these types of situations you really need somewhere where we can follow the situation. Have you considered making a Twitter? IK it’s a cesspool but it’s a good way to get updated.

So now I have to DL another app but no worries that is easy.

So good luck and see you in the next app/site.

Hope 100% of your readers will follow you

  16. you can fill the form here
    https://www.novelupdates.com/report-problem/

    tell them
1 – who you are , ie from which group
2 – what you want to be done
3 – affected novel (chapter to chapter)
4 – links to new one (or the new t.o.c of each affected novel)

if your new chapters have uniformed structure, i.e sitenamedotcom/novelname/chapter-123, the links will get replaced relatively fast. the same goes if you retain the existing one, but only the site url is different.

  17. Do what you gotta. I’ve been thinking of leaving as well recently. Their word processor is pathetic by any standard and I’ve almost had enough of their crap interface. The only thing I’ve even been impressed about was their intuitive menu customization, but that’s really such a small part of what I do on WordPress. Keep us updated, bro.

  19. IDK how long I’ve been lurking here… Though I start following you coz of Tsuki since… 3-4 years ago, or maybe 5, I forgot, hahahaha! but drop it somewhere around ch 280-300 coz of the slow update of the author at that time (not that I’m blaming you or the author coz both of you have things to do in RL) and the arc, I somehow find it bland(sorry to the fans of tsuki here).. Then a year later, I start reading you’re trans coz of Zero Goddess… I guess this is the only novel that I’ll be following until it’s done and all…

    Hmmmmm…. Welp, I guess that’s all… I’ll be lurking again… kekeke…

  22. Hi, Reigokai. I am sorry to hear that in the end you are forced to migrate. I hope you get a good platform to migrate, and you can migrate smoothly.
I’ve been here since before Tsuki’s hiatus, so it’s been several years I guess. I really enjoyed your translation quality and speed. You are one of the gem translator out there. So, I am grateful for your translation so far, and I am waiting for your next translated chapter, especially for Tsuki ga.

  23. I’m a bit of a lurker, so while I don’t say it often, I just want you to know how much I appreciate what you do, translating with such speed and quality. Honestly I end up waiting for a lot of chapters of something to be released before I start reading since I know I’ll clear them out almost all in one day. I wish you all the best with the migration, I’ll of course be following, and I want you to know that as long as you’re the one translating, I’ll definitely look forward to reading it.
