Chapter 137: Business and fight

Guys, I know I have said this before, but let me repeat myself here.

I don’t mind you dropping this story, but don’t go publicizing it. It affects me in negative ways, and I am pretty sure that it isn’t doing anything positive to others either, so please just maturely stop reading and don’t go around saying it as if it’s a threat or something.

“What’s happening?”

The fight hasn’t started yet.

Even so, on my way, I voiced out a question to no one in particular.

–The situation.

The former Ilumgand has swelled to about twice its original size and has turned into a humanoid shaped thing that shines dimly.

The meat ball-looking body has turned into a somewhat slim one now.

Looks like a badly made giant.

And in his hand, he holds the body of one of his fallen teammates.

The damage is terrible and with only a look I can tell that person is dead.

By looking at the monster’s mouth, I can tell what happened to a certain extent.

“That thing moved. When he was having a meal, the students came to stop him. And that’s how this situation came to be” (Makoto)

Without any hesitation, it eats people.

I think that the will of Ilumgand is already gone.

He is not making any strange noises. Maybe he was given an order of some sort, or he is just moving by his own instincts of violence? This is still unknown.

Jin and the others are standing on the stage where Ilumgand is and taking a battle stance.

It may be slight, but I can feel hesitation, or more like bewilderment, from everyone there.

They probably felt an emotion similar to fear after seeing Ilumgand eat a teammate, in other words, a comrade that attends the same school.

“Is the Academy not sending out help?” (Makoto)

“They are coming out just now” (Shiki)

Shiki answers me.

After his words, a group of purple clothed people come out from the corridor connecting to the waiting room.

What a taste.

Purple.

The group of around ten, point their staffs at the back of the giant and begin their arias.

Their numbers are few, but maybe they have good skills?

Or is the damage to other places bigger than expected and they can’t circulate that many people?

Let’s entrust Tomoe that aspect.

“Tomoe, I want you to go grasp the damage around the town and report it to me. I don’t mind if it’s an outline only. Can you do it?” (Makoto)

“Leave it to me” (Tomoe)

The fight begun.

Jin and the others are still in alert mode without participating.

They are waiting and seeing.

It seems those purple guys haven’t suddenly told them to fight, so they are just prioritizing observation.

In the purple group they are all magicians.

They have staffs equipped and they are also doing magic arias, so there should be no mistake.

… Such bad balance.

“Shiki, help out” (Tomoe)

“Understood” (Shiki)

Shiki nods at Tomoe’s no-questions-asked order to assist her.

Shiki’s forte is earth element.

Both wind and earth are good for surveying.

If both of them cooperate, we will be able to confirm the situation in a rather fast fashion.

I sit and rest my chin on one hand.

Looking at the progress of the battle, I once again think of the method I should take.

“Ara ara, magicians getting so close. What are they even thinking?” (Mio)

Mio is blunt about the situation.

The fighting force of the Academy shouldn’t be only this.

Honestly speaking, this Academy Town is a land with no battle experience.

There’s no fights, so there’s even rumors saying that expenses on defense are being placed on other areas.

Even so, they should have the fighting power of a tiger cub at the very least.

Especially in the school festival when powers of different countries visit.

They should have them prepared just in case.

The visitors coming here should have their guards and a bit of fighting power with them to protect themselves.

The problem is if that will be enough.

If that’s not enough, we would have to step in for sure.

If we step in, the negotiation with the demon race will be more difficult.

“That’s interesting-desu wa. That monster. From the 4 basic elements, he is nullifying 3 of them. For something that’s practically a hyuman mix failure, it is pretty well made. Is that a byproduct, or was this an expected effect?” (Mio)

Hmm.

Hearing the words of Mio, I raise my head.

The 4 basic elements huh.

She refers to the earth, water, fire and wind elements.

Most of the spirits are of those elements and the majority uses it, so that’s how they are called.

Despite its disgusting outward appearance, it is high spec.

When I look, the purple magicians’ side suddenly increased their power.

It was in an instant.

It didn’t seem as if they did anything. Is that kind of strengthening possible?

… Ah.

I noticed what it was about.

“The blessing” (Makoto)

“It seems so-desu. But to increase only the firepower is not going to help much in this situation. Because everything is attack magic. And to top it off, there’s way too few using the effective element, fire. With that, they will only increase its vigor-desu wa” (Mio)

Mio said so amazed.

The progress of the battle moves as if matching her words.

The magicians released their magic and Ilumgand makes a shattering scream. It didn’t sound as if it was weakening. That was a scream that felt as if it was strengthening.

Ilumgand turns unto the purple group and rushed.

He showed quite the instantaneous power.

Well then.

It looks like the turn of my students won’t be coming for a while.

So, about the way to use this disturbance.

The success of this (don’t know what’s the factor that would state the success of it though) should be important to the demon race to a certain extent.

That must be why Rona didn’t tell me anything and still went into action.

I want Kaleneon, but I can’t overlook this uproar till the end.

In that case, how should I act?

While I absentmindedly~ look at the academy’s fighting force get torn up, I get irritated by my thoughts that are not showing signs of arranging.

“Waka, I have a rough grasp of the situation. There seem to be about 50 of those monsters around the whole area. The teleport formations and auxiliary teleport formations are being actively targeted and destroyed . There’s a few at the surrounding towns as well, and they show the same pattern. Also, the thought transmission interference, may be weak at the moment, but it looks like it is just the beginning. It may not be visible in Academy Town, but from the surrounding towns, it feels like they are slowly closing the circle” (Tomoe)

Tomoe, that was fast.

And you even grasped the situation on the surrounding towns as well.

What terrifying people.

“I see. And the battle situation?” (Makoto)

“Not good. Maybe they were more accustomed to peace than expected. They haven’t been able to defeat a single one yet. It seems they are doing well in holding back one of the monsters that is heading to the Academy’s internal teleport formation, but the other places have received a lot of damage” (Shiki)

Ara ra.

I see. They are having it rough.

If it’s not only this one but all the ones out there that have this magic negation or whatever it is, it may be a difficult opponent for students and magicians.

It might collapse the notions of the academy.

Well, no surprise.

This place has been nothing but peaceful after all.

Compared to Tsige and the base, this place is practically tensionless.

Hearing Shiki’s report, I have understood that the situation will turn bad if we don’t join in to suppress it.

“Waka-sama, those guys have been wiped-out-desu wa” (Mio)

Oh.

Mio notifies me about their wipe-out with a sigh mixed in.

For the purple guys to serve as a meal only… just how weak can they be?

“Jin and the others didn’t assist?” (Makoto)

“They did, but their way of fighting was no good-desu wa ne. They didn’t move like they did in the matches” (Mio)

How unusual.

From the reports I have received from Eris, I have heard that they are able to properly move when they fight mamonos.

Can’t be helped. It seems they need instructions.

Now that I think about it, when I was pushed into actual site training by Sensei, I was clumsy until I got used to it.

They are students as well. Even if their body doesn’t move as they want to, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about.

Well, it would be no good if they end up dying because of that, but right now I am here with them.

“Geez. My evaluation of them had gone a bit higher, and soon after, they show such a sad behavior” (Mio)

Uh, it feels like I am the one receiving those words.

“Shiki, didn’t you pamper them way too much? To use your forte element in only one kind of way, that’s the pattern of hyumans. You should properly teach them how to have a wider field of vision like the time they were fighting in the team battles” (Mio)

How strict Mio.

Why is it? I feel like all her scolding is stabbing at me.

Ah, I am the type that can only do one thing.

Also, I am the type that misses whenever I am under pressure.

I can do this kind of fights easily, but when it comes to negotiations and business, I immediately show my true self… Mh?

“… Eh?”

Use your forte with a wider field of vision…

My forte…

Magic power and defense. Also, the speaking ability. <Probably means his ability to speak with other races>

I have used my speaking ability to make it shine in different aspects, but what about my fighting power?

I hate threatening with brute strength so I don’t do it, but aren’t there many other ways to use it aside from that?

In business, at work, in dignified things, I thought I had to do it fair and square.

In basis, it hasn’t changed even now, and that’s why I haven’t gone for the power-type of merchandize.

Because if I were to put fighting power as merchandize, what’s optimum for us would be to turn into a mercenary group. We are already using Asora, so that system would be way too much of an advantage for the merchants.

To exchange lives for money feels slightly wrong for me, so that’s mostly the reason why I don’t do it but…

Then, what would be fair and square?

I feel like something meshes here…

Violence is also one of the cards I hold.

No, I wouldn’t be actively threatening.

But to be concerned about something that I wouldn’t be using constantly is… pointless?

If our surroundings get even if only an impression that we are a group that possesses diverse abilities aside from business, they will obviously see us as a threat.

Using the backing of the country, they place pressure on other merchants.

They use the position they have built up as an advantage against newcomers.

I do think that that’s an obvious business technique.

Then, to put your assets to a different use, isn’t that something similar?

Personal connections, assets, power; that’s the power of those guys.

To use your all to challenge something isn’t strange.

Isn’t it even stranger to exclude strength?

It is true that it might not be good for your image, but there’s other ways of using strength aside from hurting someone.

Right. For example: in a situation where there’s a threat that uses the same strength to cause damage?

I look at the guest seats.

I still see quite a few people there.

The academy head is probably there as well, using thought transmission to relay orders.

Seeing his own fighting force defeated so easily must have affected his spirit.

… Yeah.

Let’s try it out.

“Waka-sama, what’s wrong? Looks like your students are going to be fighting” (Mio)

“… Mio, and also Shiki. Please give instructions to Jin and the others. If they are about to be wiped-out, assisting them is also fine” (Makoto)

“Eh?”

“Hah?”

“N, you didn’t hear me?” (Makoto)

“No, that’s not it! Understood!” (Mio)

“Your orders have been received. I will instruct them to my best and have them gain experience” (Shiki)

I ask them again and Mio and Shiki run forward.

After reaching the inner part of the audience seats where the railing is, they jump down to the center of the tournament grounds, onto the stage.

There’s also the promise I made with Rembrandt-san.

I will not let a single one of my students die.

Also, just like his wife said: ‘Experiencing the feeling of being almost killed will surely serve them well in the future’.

Not like the surprise attack of the low-grade dragon. There’s surely a different meaning in fighting an upfront fight.

Well, since the time I came to this world, fights were mostly easy for me, so I am not in a position to say that though.

“Tomoe, come with me” (Makoto)

“As you will. It seems you have decided on what to do” (Tomoe)

“Yeah. For now, I will protect this town behind-the-scenes. Please have Lime and Mondo move. It is fine to have them rescue the residents. If the situation has not subsided after that, you can freely decide to suppress it. And while at it, capture one or two as samples and send them to Asora. I will leave the details of the orders to you” (Makoto)

“Let me confirm this, it is fine for me to enter the scene whenever I find it appropriate?” (Tomoe)

“Yeah, I leave it to you. I will give you the details after this place is fully under control” (Makoto)

“As you will. And then, where are we going now?” (Tomoe)

“We are going to help the people that are at the guest side. In this part, we will act as heroes of justice” (Makoto)

“… I see. You are not going for the residents, but for the people that have posts in the countries” (Tomoe)

“… I will leave that to your imagination” (Makoto)

Tomoe probably knows everything I am thinking of.

If I want the guests to escape to a safe place, having Tomoe would be the best choice.

I am a merchant, and she is my escort and close aide.

If I want them to look at Kuzunoha Company, it is easier to show them Tomoe and Mio.

My thinking is still shallow, but Tomoe abides to it.

It may be rough, but I am grateful.

My thinking is simple.

Carrot and stick.

Aid and intimidate.

The thing that’s fine for us to do when utilizing strength.

I have begun to think that the things we can do are actually many.

I feel like my field of vision has increased in an instant.

It may be rude to use the guests that are probably scared as my first testers.

Doing something like this, will it leave a good impression?

It is indeed an extremely simple idea.

I head to the guest seats with feelings as if challenging a test after studying all night.

  1. I wonder where was those rants posted at? I wanna see how those kids bitching about this when dropping because their little brain cannot comprehend 2-3 chapters of MC self monologue, which is rare and still good enough.
Why would you read this only for action? This novel has a lot of tags not only just action.

    1. To be fair, even I’m kind of fed up of the mc’s attitude of letting himself be pushed around despite having plenty of cards he can play. If he revealed even a fraction of either his influence or his direct power he could’ve handled these problems within seconds. On top of that, he’s seriously naive. He’s already been told that he holds power comparable to an upper Goddess (and according to the author’s way of increasing it, it should actually be at least an order of magnitude higher, that is at least 10x higher than before by now at least, but last time we were told about it it was comparable, so I’m going with that.) even if he doesn’t know how to use more than a fraction of that. If he was to show even the amount of magic power he had in the beginning then it’s almost certain that no one would dare to make him their enemy. I get not showing his full power since he’s not powerful to reliably fight a god that has probably had tens of millenia at least to perfect her magic, but he’s hiding way too much. On top of that, even if it is a Japanese thing, he’s constantly debasing himself in front of other people. Even when he holds salvation for a race of hundreds, he doesn’t give conditions (this part alone is fine, since it’s part of his character to help people) but then he basically lowers his position every time he talks to someone.
I hope that he gains some confidence/arrogance thanks to this, since he REALLY needs it.

      1. I like this type of growing though.

After all, there is too many novel in isekai cheat mc story be like : “I got betrayed by my classmate/the king throw me because I don’t have cheat from the start so I will use my new power wherever I want and I will not give a fuck about the world. Angry to me? I have power so don’t obstruck me!” This type of story is popular cause it is easy to read.
Try to read blade online (novel) and change his luck to super rare item or hidden cheat skill (and the monster,if the lvl is too high, you can kill it even though they only have 1 more hp) and that is how many isekai story started.
Ah, there is also those otaku mc that somehow born as a genius tactician or have hidden battle sense

      2. This isn’t xianxia, it’s been revealed since the very beginning that he hates fighting. He doesn’t even trying to fight Sofia for the first few minutes until she tried to take his head, which made him seriously mad. Still, he ain’t a hero, he never was. He was summoned to this world as a contract by his parents, nothing else. He’s just like the kids at his age that has no particular goal, naive and timid. Certainly, this monologue gives him a lot of development, unlike so much novels that just giving few sentences and then MC do the “fuck it I’ll kill everyone” vibe.

You have to know he was summoned for no particular special reason, so he has to find reason on his own in this world. His first found objective is traveling, which is why he created non-afflicted-to-any-country company, which you happen to have to make it by joining merchy guild. And second objective he got recently is about his parents’ hometown which happens to be owned by demons. Does it means if he goes with his brawl, he would destroy merchy guild (and hyumans) and he would also need to destroy demons just to clear his parents’ birth place? This isn’t like Shield Bro that has purpose of revenge, or Konjiki Wordmaster that’s being leisure and ignorantly world traveling, or any Isekai that start by MC’s death in real world. This guy has his own purpose.

I know this monologue was getting too long, but for me it just shows how incredibly deep his dilemma was; between saving his company by being hero for people he despise or getting to his parents’ birthplace by not offending demons (which indicated he’s a very family loving guy).

      3. i am pretty sure that MC already consider that but not only he dislikes going for violence directly , he also doesn’t want to attract unnecessary attention that would led to many countries trying to pester him because they wanted to covet such a very powerful fighting power that could end the demon race in an instant should he wanted to. That’s why his mindset is that of living a peaceful life without getting involved in any of the world’s dispute

      4. I support what Saiz0 said, and add to it what Tsukuyomi granted him, Tsukuyomi gavee him the choice to do whatever he wanted after the unreasonable summoning that Bug did, so unlike Hibiki and Tomoki, who were summoned as heroes, and have goals, Makoto was transported and left with no purpose, and so he is doing and exploring the choices he has, and that allows him to be naive for so long compared to the other 2 japanese, he is straighforward and simple, but he thinks about the situation he is thrown in, and it is nice to see that, the amount of Isekais with MCs that go “revenge this” or are just “unknown genius after transported” are many, and not many authors capitalize much on that and it is because it is so simple to read, here we see makoto doubt what happens and see how he develops his thinking, and that is one of the reasons why i love this part, from when Zara lashes him by his naive mentality and how he got played by Rona, after being lashed and considering go to demon camp and betray hyumans, he inmediately gets confronted with this situation, and whats better, this is a reasonable way of thinking, of how his decision on that crumbles, and then one ees how it oes further beyond chapters after, when he exchanges the promise with the goddes, when he didnt let her intimidate him, or how he even later goes to other countries and sees the state of affairs, and it is seen in his way of speaking and all how he changes

  2. il say it in the most clear form i can

WTH did i just read? did he just now ignore around 7 chapters of planning for a sudden plot change? seriosly ? over a week of nothing? also i didnt really understand what he plan or did at the last? he plans now to use fear as one of his plans? or was just imagination of pov at the last ?

i am just extremely confused. also i knew it be quite a large scale since it was mentioned its a plan to kill both heroes on same time that are not even in the city but still isnt that stupid? just 1 JUST1 is needed to break ppl like that how come the war have been going for many years? its not like the drug its new since its from larva`s time
anyway il just imagine this chapter didnt exist, this one completely confused me

    1. No, he got lost and had trouble deciding on a path, considering fleeing one way or another. Now he’s decided on a path where loyalty impacts what he does and doesn’t blindly sacrifice everything. So this isn’t ignoring all the planning but his answer to the position he found himself in where he didn’t know what way to go. Character development, basically.

    2. the leaders and many nobles of various countries are gathered at that place for the tournament and the variants are targeting all teleport locations.
by destroying the teleports they cut off escape routes as well as possible reinforcements from other places, it is very likely that the demons plan to destroy the chain of command by killing the leaders and thus causing alot of chaos aswell as strife among the hyumans for the next leader, which might lead to many deaths. this will also cause many other problems in various other fields. also this academy is the center of education, by killing the students they kill future commanders/generals/merchants/ministers… etc.

    3. 1st it normal for people to go through multiple thoughts then reach a type of epiphany conclusion. 2nd going by your logic of shiki having already develop this, he did but concluded it was a failure. It probally took years for demons to get the info on this experiment and then decide how to improve or tweak it for there use.

    4. Eh really? When does it said a plan to kill the hero? From the start,Rona never said the target of the plan. She only said she hoped Raidou won’t hinder the plan.

Also,Makoto said he will use the power if it deemed necessary, not use it to rampaging so I isn’t think he will kill those important figure.

  5. Liking how he is developing but I want him to be more… How do you say? LELOUCHE? hehehe but yeah its nice how he is waving his forces strength but you know I really don’t see much point with the demon side though yeah anti god trinkets and country that might be your parents birthplace but really? You still think that your actions there in that city might affect the negotiations? Dude she saw through the conditions and let it happen knowing full well what might happen so you know that they really aren’t going to keep their word so come on Makoto drop one or two of your rings and fuck their shit up, cripple their supplies and forces if need be to get an edge. A merchant also causes problems to profit from.

    1. actually his (almost) sole purpose of wanting to be in the demon king’s land is so he can get access to his hometown (wouldn’t be his birthplace since i believe he was born on earth) so Asora can have the 4 seasons and doesn’t really have much to do with it being his parents hometown. it’s been mentioned several times.

if he drops even 1 of his rings Academy town will be completely destroyed which would kill his students which he swore he’d protect

also Rona honored her promises. all she promised was to withdraw her troops which she did and in return he promised not to attack rona’s forces and meet the demon king.

and for the people saying they are dropping the series i have 1 thing to say. NOBODY CARES, NOBODY CARES, NOBODY FREAKEN CARES!!! if you wanna leave go ahead but dont you DARE make Reigokai sad because of it ya F*cking meatbags. dont make us feed ya to the crows.

  6. Even though I’ve been reading this novel since the very beginning I had never posted before nor had I ever read the comment section because years of reading light novels have taught me that the comment/review section of popular series it’s always full of trolls and wannabe critics so I never bother.
Always remember that for every negative comment/review there are HUNDREDS of readers who like your work but don’t bother making comments or reviews. Don’t believe me? Just check M-U: There are almost 600 people who have this on their reading list. And that doesn’t count those who don’t bother making an account there, like me.
Actually, the fact that there are so many people making negative comments here is positive because it means that the series got so popular that the trolls think it’s worth their time to bait the readers and harass the translators so they drop the series.

Remember: In the anime/manga/light novel community, there is a rule that says that the more popular a series gets, the more negative comments it will receive so don’t be discouraged please.

The dedication and regularity with which you translate this story is awesome so don’t mind the simple minded.

People have different taste and it’s normal that some people don’t like something… i could quite understand them for not liking this novel but if they read to this point at least they did try to understand or give it a chance at least. Some people might say this is caracter developpement other will see it as nothing but filler and waste of time but each opinion is legit and if they don’t want to read it anymore well they can stop. The only reason i can see for their post that says they will stop to read it and point all the point they dont like in the novel might be because of anger… anger that the story ain’t what they tought?! anger for the time they’ve waste reading something they thought was going to be good?!? or maybe even anger for a story they had hope in that turn to be not to their liking? lol a seriously don’t know.
Anyway what is important is if the translator is enjoying translating/posting this story and if he likes it. If he does everything is fine for the reader! 😉 There will always be people who like it and in the same way there will be people who don’t. I’ve yet seen something that everybody agree on! 😛
Thanks for the translation! (and if i leave i’ll try to remember not to post it here^^)

  16. The MC discovered ‘MAD’ by using equal force as a threat even when he capable of completely destroying them. I’m still hoping he gets back at Rona somehow.

    1. MAD = Mutually Assured Destruction, meaning neither side can attack without the ensuing conflict ending in the total destruction of both groups.

      Not sure how it applies?

  17. If someone wants to drop the series due to them no longer liking it, I think it’s perfectly fine. People should be allowed to voice their opinion on the series. It would be wrong to insult Reigokai or tell him to drop it, but voicing discontent with the series respectfully should be allowed.

For instance, I used to like this series a lot, but it’s been wearing my patience thin. Makoto introspects a lot, but not in a positive way that brings true character development. It almost feels like he’s become even more pessimistic recently. It’s a shame he took so many chapters just to realize that strength is another aspect of negotiations. But what’s worse is that he’s become less compassionate. The story tries to make Makoto look like a well intentioned person, but he’s let innocent people die in front of him this chapter while contemplating if he should go into action. He doesn’t even feel remorse over their deaths, simply thinking they were too weak or mentioning them in afterthought. He has the power to save these people and the lives of those in the city but hasn’t even given it a single thought. I really hope that something traumatic happens to him such as a friend dying brutally, because nothing else seems like it’ll shock him or snap him to reality to realize how cold he’s truly become about the lives of others.

    1. I have to disagree.

Makoto used to have more of the “save everyone, hero of justice” mentality in the beginning. It was precisely because of the death of a friend that he’s become colder towards hyumans.

He realized that just because they look pretty, doesn’t mean they’re good people. That’s not to say they’re automatically bad people (and truthfully, it’s not even entirely their fault. Damn Bug.) , but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s an automatic reluctance to just step in and save people who look down on you (Because of your appearance).

While I’m not crazy about him taking several chapters to do so, Makoto took the time to run through his various options and decide how he feels about each one. In fact his initial response was the “hero of justice,” so he’s still fundamentally good. But he’s been a bit hurt by the adults so far, finding out that just because you do something good (offering high-quality medicine at low prices) doesn’t mean people will thank you or even treat you nicely.

      1. I think the point of this chapter is about Makoto shifting his goal from living in relative obscurity to living as a neutral party. It’s probably for the best, since all of the intermediate and world powers have already taken notice of him. Now he just needs to deal with the monster situation in front of the MVPs to show he’s strong enough to declare neutrality, which is what Falz/Root has been saying in private. That makes it a simple to clean up the outstanding issues.

[You say I’m working with the demons? Well, how about we talk about it at the banquet held in my honor for saving hyumanity’s leaders? Oh, you won’t be there? Don’t worry, I’ll relay your words to them personally. Which country do you think is letting the demons through, Limia or Gritonia?]

“Hi Rona, good thing you told your people to leave the festival, otherwise I’d have to suspect you for that monster outbreak. After all, I told you Academy City was my stomping grounds, and I’d hate to stomp on you. So, where’s your boss?”

Unrelated, but I’m not sure where all of the drama over “Raidou breaks” is coming from. He came to this city to learn how to become a merchant, and he just got his first lecture. Mission accomplished?

    2. actually about half of last chapter was him about to go save everyone but then realized it could screw his relations with the demon king. in the last bit of this chapter he made a decision to save some of the hyumans. also they kinda died while he wasn’t paying attention to them since he thought they’d be able to put up more of a fight and was surprised they lost so fast

    3. A few things.

First, the TRANSLATOR IS NOT THE AUTHOR.

So “voicing discontent” does exactly zero. People who dislike the series so much that they need to shout out loud before doppring it can simply LEARN JAPANESE and blast the AUTHOR.

Second, what exactly makes people think that others are interested in hearing that they are dropping the series?

For example, i want to go to the toilet now to take a crap, should i announce to the world? Because I’m the center of the universe and everyone needs to/wants to know what i’m doing next. I’m as interested in knowing X is going to drop this series as much as X is going to crap in the toilet.

Third, those that hate the series so much that they want to shout out and drop it, can simply set up a forum discussing with others who feel the same way on how much they hate the story and how fast they are going to drop it, week after week.

It doesn’t take much common sense to find that comments of “so this story is so bad. MC is so bad. Story is so slow. etc” literally has the usefulness of rubbish and no one cares.

      1. IMO reading comments that have different opinion than myself is interesting and usefull to understand how other people see things.
I do agree that some of those comment are not interesting but if people do explain why they quit i dont see why they could not tell what they think. If they don’t say what they think than obviously nobody will explain them their POV and they will never be able to see your angle.

And if you still don’t like those comments, you can just ignore them.

Oh and btw there might be someone somewhere that do want to know when you take a crap… dont act like you are the center of the universe and know what other ppl like! If you feel like you want to tell us, do it. Than we’ll decide if we want to read/answer you… or not.

i really dont know how to say it but a youtuber named Boogie who is a nice guy who got his youtube hacked but got it back said it somewhere around the same thing your going on about and how censorship ruins the game for the majority because of the minority

so jsut ignor the minority just focus on us positive majority who enjoys the translation

      1. It is unfortunate, but at least one of the reasons why minorities are “ass holes right now” is because they know if they don’t act up, they get ignored.

“The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

There is some truth to that statement. There may not always be a problem when there is “squeaking,” but it at least lets you know you should check to make sure.

Conversely, when there is a problem, and there is no squeaking, the problem gets ignored until it becomes catastrophic. To continue using the wheel analogy, the wheel snaps off and the entire cart crashes. (If the only thing affected was the single wheel, you could make an argument for ignoring problems. But when things fail, they have a tendency to take other things down with them.)

        Like

      2. yeah but still that analogy only works if it was constructive critisising or the problem would actually be an actual problem that can be solve that can help make it better

  24. (This is how it plays out in my head) I can’t wait for Makoto to be like. “Most of you are scum and treated me as much.” “I have been neutral for a while yet many have tried to take advantage of me, my company and companions.””I tried to be kind and help people.” “I could save your skins but most of you aren’t worth it.” “I only help those who have been kind to me.”Even the goddess treats me like dirt and cursed me because I don’t fit her tastes. She even made it so I can’t talk common language” “So what would you like me to do?” “You choice is to stop believing in the goddess and that she will save and help you or join my cause?” “Your choice. later~” Nobles and merchants grumble~ Some beg. Not worth it. Some curse him. Not worth it. Some compromise and probably are worth it.

So, being the nice people that they are, they’re letting us down in the nicest way possible, so that we’ll at least be able to move on.

  29. i for one am really appreciating this story’s pacing. it’s not very often you see a main character with as much thoughtfulness and humility as this, and the slow pacing of the story really just helps to bring that out

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Personally, I really dislike that “humility”. Thoughtfulness is nice in main characters, like Meng Hao from ISSTH for example, but in Makoto’s case, he’s continually allowed himself to be disadvantaged in almost every deal he’s made himself. I like this new train of thought of using intimidation that he’s taking up.

      Like

      1. I mostly meant his willingness to swallow his pride and learn from those mistakes. Thoughtfulness is more so the kind of concern for other characters than the aptitude for manipulating them or the resourcefulness which I think you are alluding to. I think it’s great that his idealism is evolving from the impractical kind that constantly disadvantages him into the more practical kind that focuses on protecting his followers and only reciprocating generosity when shown it first.

  30. What’s this? Something happened in the plot that I don’t agree with? This cannot be! In order to demonstrate my outrage in a contructive fashion, I’m going to arbitrarily declare that I’m not going to read this anymore since I know that I am almost certainly the centre of the universe and that every other reader lives and dies by my every word and should declare it dropped, everyone will stop reading and it will cease to be! Behold my power! Dropped! Let the world tremble in my absence!
*lightning and thunder fill the background*

If you’re too mentally challenged to see the sarcasm between the lines there, I worry about your future.
Seriously though Reigokai, I can’t understand how you can have hundreds of comments complementing your work and productivity in translating and showing obvious enjoyment in the ongoing plot (even if we have gone more than two or three chapters without anyone getting their ass kicked), yet one or two childish bitches rage quit over the fact that Makoto isn’t acting like an OP xianxia protagonist and you’re letting it get to you?
I guess the negative opinions always seem to affect people more than the positive ones.
Seriously, don’t pay them any mind. The haters are a handful of voices out of thousands of happy readers here. I even donated some money to cheer you up just a minute ago. That’s how much I like what you’re doing. What else do I have to do to convince you?

    1. My Spoiler-san persona aside, I would like to talk about the people who mention that they are dropping. For starters, they don’t have to mention it in the comments. I will admit, my Spoiler-san persona did cause a few comments like that, but I haven’t seen those in a while. But the Spoiler-san persona isn’t the only factor, just 5% of the reason why people say things like that.

In truth, it’s because there are many not satisfied with this story for some odd reason. Personally I like the break from the cardboard cutout Isekai genre MC. You know, the ones who form harems and are only out to save the world that they have been summoned. It’s the reason I love this, Tate no Yuusha, and Arifureta. True that the MCs of the other two are Harem-Kuns (Harem-kun is the term I use for any harem MC), but this is more or less semi-harem like KonaSuba. Well… it’s semi-harem in a different sense, but you know what I mean. Makoto refuses Tomoe and Mio’s feelings because he sees them as family. True that girls hurl themselves at him, but he knows better.

Another reason is the fact that he didn’t decide to become the new Devil King/Demon King/Demon Lord. Yeah, I will admit that even I wanted that to happen at some point. However, I didn’t need to read ahead in Google Translate’s incoherent clumps of text to see that not happening. It’s Makoto’s personality that prevents it. He isn’t interested in revenge against the Bug (Goddess). Well… he is a little interested, but isn’t obsessed with it. He’s too rational, just wanted to get by in the world that he’s now stuck in. When it all started, he figured he would just stay with the Highland Orcs as he could at least talk with them. However, he then defeated Shen Long who later became Tomoe and that’s what started the path he’s currently on. He literally became a part of this world. Thus why he didn’t join the Demon King or even replace them. Not to mention that he’d rather the Bug just leave him alone instead of having to fight her.

So yeah, there are people who do not like where this story is going. And there are others who do not like that I won’t tell them personally of what exactly is going to happen and where the story is going to end up, but that’s beside the point. The real problem is that they are complaining without remembering that Reigo-senpai only translates the novel. It’s the author who wrote this and decided the path that Makoto has taken so far. So complaining to Reigokai is like shooting the messenger. If I were to ever drop this novel translation (which is never going to happen), I wouldn’t mention that I’m doing so in the comments. It’s disrespectful to do that.

I like Makoto, because his character itself is also believable. He doesn´t know he´s probably the strongest existence on that world, but he knows that he´s lacking in many aspects and he is not one of those Character that instantly turn from a peacefull japanese Student into a bloodlusty demon the moment they chage world and gains some imba cheat skill.
he knows, that he doesn´t know and trys to act in accord with his own believes. He isn´t a villain in glasses oder some slaughtermaniac that kills anyone that offends him, thats what makes this special, and whoever can´t see how this is special, or can´t apreciate that it is this way, hasn´t read enough martial arts novels.

    2. The way I see it is that he isn’t exactly going to fight directly against them, just assist the hyumans in defeating the monsters. Like the way he asked Shiki and Mio to assist the purple robes and the students.

Makoto heard that they suck at fighting. So, I think that he is just going to help them by instructing them on how to fight and only providing support when necessary.

This way he can show off his strength (not his true power, only teaching abilities) to the nobles without publicly going against the demon race. If Rona figures out that he helped the Hyumans, he can just say that he was just doing business. They hired him or something.

Tomoe and Mio have experience in helping adventurers in Tsige and Shiki and Makoto have been teaching the students. You can say that it is one of their strengths. They’ll show their strength, without showing their “strength”.

Cmon, its a isekai, we all know how it will end, its the long run that give fun to it, Makoto will grown impressively in the end of this arc, with will lead to retard hero bash next, all the confusion, missed shots and argues is ok since it would be a damm stupid novel if the mc twist a finger and get smart and even a litle more dark in a second.

So stop crying about how confuse Makoto is rigth now because he is confused, frustrated and angry, but still trying to learn how to proft from all this like a legit merchant, in the end of this arc people will see wat so much this troubles change him, till then just let the chapters add so when you come back to read you gonna be happy.

Pfft, I’d do worse than Makoto if i were in his shoes. Unlike anti-heroes like Lelouch or Yagami or Shieldhero, who have a reason for hatred and shits, this MC has been living a carefree and normal life. He hasn’t been through shits like Shieldbro, so if he did the WN would be sooo much different. it’s like a parallel story of Shieldbro where the OP MC isn’t dark nor cynical, and instead he is rational and carefree.

Different people even with same bad circumstances won’t turn out to be the same. E.g, siblings of sister and brother with terrible parent-child relationship, but in the end, the brother followed the bad footsteps, but the sister turn out to be positive and determined to be different.
